Performance MovieChart

Here is a Payments Power Story in a full motion graph, what I call a Performance MovieChart.

The horizontal axis measures monthly sales. The vertical axis measures the profit increase from when Payments Power techniques were introduced, for each payment type. The payment types are listed in the right sidebar. The size of the bubble is the proportion of money deposited from each payment type. Notice that total sales is shown as a payment type too.

In this story, we helped the business owner negotiate a different processing agreement. After two months they finally added a PIN pad we recommended. We coached the check-out team member to encourage customers to use the PIN pad with Check Card payments.

Check it out! See what happens when you roll your cursor over any bubble.

To focus on any one or more Payment Type, you can click on the the check boxes on the right sidebar. Click on the checkboxes for PIN Debit and Total Sales. Notice that check box types colors are brighter for when their boxes are checked. (Watch for the green PIN bubble to appear in March)

Click the triangle in the box on the lower left to start the playback. You can stop at any point in playback, and use your mouse to drag the slider backwards or forwards.

At the end of the playback roll your cursor over the yellow Total Sales Bubble on the far right. This pop-up box shows the Payments Power value – a sustained profit increase of more than $1.40 for every $100 in sales. For this small business the 5 year savings might exceed $40 thousand!

Put your cursor on the green bubble highest up on the chart. Note that for this business, the use of the PIN pad improved their profit on about one third of sales by almost three dollars of every $100 of PIN debit card sales. Drag the slider back to the start and replay. Watch how in March the PIN sales grew quickly from zero to over $18 thousand.

What do you think the third Payments Power action recommendation was?
